Sadé Awele shares vibrant new single “Jo”

Nigerian-born, Vancouver-based singer and songwriter Sadé Awele soaked in the vibes of gospel, R&B, jazz and Afrobeats as a child. This in turn spurred her interest and passion in the arts, especially the aspect of songwriting, storytelling and drumming. She later released her EP Long Time Journey which garnered quite a lot of buzz from different Canadian media outlets including CBC, CKCU and more. Her latest release titled "Jo" is a mid-tempo afrobeat-infused R&B cut that aims to get people out of their seats and be free of their inhibitions. The record has a layered texture, rich acoustic guitar arrangements and a hypnotic percussion-drive groove that adds and taps into her rich West African roots. Armed with her commanding and soothing vocals, she commands listeners to break free from self-doubt and constraints and lose themselves in the music as she commands "Let me see you Jo" in the hook. The title of the song means dance in the Yoruba language, an art that is integral to the Nigerian culture and a way of expressing joy.
