Xelli Island explores losing yourself to find yourself again on 'Streets Of A Spiral'

Detroit-hailing the independent dream-pop project Xelli Island explores losing yourself in lust and love with someone that isn’t right for you and finding your way to back to joy and self-worth again on five-track EP Streets Of A Spiral.

Blending groovy beats and soft synths with catchy vocal lines, the hypnotic EP is a trip down a winding yet familiar path as we spiral through the ups and downs of our life, as we experience all-consuming love that leads us astray to then seeking freedom from its tensions and pressures.

The EP showcases Xelli’s versatility in full as sways from the expansive indie-pop stylings of “Days Go By,” into the soulful tones of “The End Of Us,” as she allows her warm vocals to float over vibrant instrumentals, framed by heartfelt lyrics that unwrap hard-hitting topics in the most comforting of ways.

Speaking of the EP, Xelli says, “It’s so easy to get sucked into the orbit of people you love, and sometimes it’s tricky and terrible and you have to drive away. So this is an EP about getting in my beloved car and driving away. Away from romance and its consuming nature, away from the pressures of finding a partner and settling down, and finally cutting loose all of the tension and strings that form within the world of intimacy and relationships.”

The project of vocalist and songwriter Lianna Vanicelli, Xelli Island consistently offers up down-to-earth yet wise ruminations on life as she charms us on each new release.
