Montreal-born Hip Hop artist Stephanie Frances Lawrence is a rising genre-bending artist who combines a plethora of genres into their repertoire. Their latest release "The Come-Up" is a mixed bag of styles ranging from R&B, jersey club, and house music and it's what is called club house. The drums are punchy and rapid and the textures have an urgent, cinematic aesthetic that is underpinned by Stephanie's spoken word-influenced flow. They approach the track with a laidback persona and profound songwriting that talks about self-discovery, personal insights and the use of various pop culture references to drive home the theme of self-growth in this modern world. Some of the lyrics are introspective and personal as Stephanie doesn't shy away from letting the world know about her multicultural background as a descendant of mixed British, Jamaican, Irish, and Scottish roots.

"The Come-Up," is quite different, experimental and worth checking out.
