MILANOSPORT share post-punk, exhilarating new single "Sushi"

MILANOSPORT, winners of 2023 Great Escape Festival ‘Steve Strange Award’, have just unveiled their latest offering, fresh single, "Sushi". With its combination of upbeat tones and spoken word vocals, this post-punk and surf rock band captivates our senses, persuading our feet to tap along to the infectious bassline and drum beat. The electric guitars take turns with the vocals, both taking the spotlight.

Accompanying this tongue-in-cheek track is a visually striking music video featuring a group of friends indulging in unappealing and greasy looking burgers at a neon-lit restaurant, rather than the expected sushi. Federico, the vocalist, gazes intensely into the camera as he repeatedly chants the catchy hook of the song, "the sushi tastes nice and the city is alright, feeling glamorous tonight, and the sushi tastes now…" This eerie and surreal ambiance perfectly complements the song, infusing it with a dream-like quality.

As the lead single from their highly anticipated debut album, "Sushi" marks the beginning of an exhilarating journey for MILANOSPORT.

Speaking about the song, they explained: "’Sushi’ secretly photographs the mundane life of Milan, exposing its grotesque superficiality without filters. The nightlife and excesses of Milan, the city that never sleeps, serve as the backdrop against which the lotus-eaters move, caught up in the whirlwind of necessary divertissement that slowly dulls the senses to the point of nausea. The bass line spirals, dragging you through the illuminated streets of the city, while evanescent lights flash in the darkness, following the obsessive, hypnotic rhythm of the song. Dissonances, crowds of people queuing at the counter, laughter, soft lights, blurred images, the taste of Campari: nice.“”
