Copenhagen, Denmark-raised Cameroon-born singer-songwriter Allen Anjeh was surrounded by music at an early age, and being exposed to genres ranging from R&B, and '90s hip-hop to Makossa and more, she was able to soak in these influences and slowly develop her sound as a fully-fledged artist. Her brand of neo-soul/afro-pop and jazz-infused sound is prevalent in her repertoire and on her new release "Once In A Million", she delivers a soul-gripping piece that dives into the dynamics of one-sided relationships and the emotional build-up that occurs in these situations. Bolstered by a moody and somewhat solemn backdrop made up of pulsating basslines, lush guitar riffs and hushed drum grooves, Allen's rich vocal tone engulfs the backdrop with soothing melodies and unapologetic lyrics such as "Feeling like it's over, it ain't hard to say/ Don't want your money, don't need your pain/I can do all myself".
The accompanying visuals were shot in Ghana and viewers are taken deep into the beautiful and calm streets of the West African country. We get to see the everyday people living their lives and basking in the warm weather.
The track was co-written with London-based Nigerian artist/producer AZEKEL and follows her debut single “Rising Sun”. “Once in a Million” is the second track to be released from Allen’s 5-track debut EP set for release in August 2023.
"Once In A Million" is taken from Allen’s forthcoming debut EP entitled Ó mmɛ ne which translates to ‘This is me’.
