The Dionysus Effect has just unleashed one of their most raw and important singles of their career. Called “Heroin’, the song is off of their self-titled twelve track album just released.
With “Heroin”, The Dionysus Effect shares a single that describes the gut wrenching firsthand experience of singer Christoph’s time in a rehab center. The autobiographical song details the time in his life where he resided with heroin addicts trying to get clean. He confides, “The way they talked about doing heroin was like hearing someone talking about their first love.” Lyrics including, “You in rehab / just a junky you are gunna relapse / and now you get the sweats / and you never can forget / when skin and the needle met / you can never get enough,” show just how deep the addiction can run. “Heroin” is an explosive alt rock track filled with a driving baseline that just doesn’t quit. Combustable drums and a dynamic chorus full of energy are standouts in this deeply personal and darkly haunting track.
The Dionysus Effect are a New York based three-piece who create rock music with a fresh perceptive. The band is composed of members Christoph Paul (lead vocals, bass), Sean Quinn Hanley (guitar, backing vocals) and Brett Petersen (drums). The trio push the boundaries of alt rock music combining influences of garage rock, metal and even pop.
