Award-winning Nigerian afropop star musician and producer Simi keeps pushing the envelope, from garnering acclaimed recognition for her latest album, To Be Honest, and now she returns with a new single "Stranger". The Louddaa-produced track sees her fully hands-on with her art as she wrote, recorded and engineered the song herself. While some may know her for her laidback Afropop numbers but her true strength lies in soulful renditions and she delivers a brilliant solemn pop ballad that explores the influence of love and how it can cause us to behave unexpectedly in our relationships. Over the melancholic piano arrangements and warm strings, Simi illustrates the pros and cons of falling in love. She revisits the good and the bad and ponders how the same thing that gives you joy can also give you pain.
Expanding on the theme of 'Stranger,' Simi explains that “The power of love renders you powerless, and may the heavens help you if you’re powerless for someone undeserving. Is it love when it transforms you so strongly, you find you’re becoming different from the person you always thought you were – the person you thought you were capable of being? Is it love? The song is about love that changes you for the worst”.
"Stranger" is out via her independent label, Studio Brat.
It was recently announced that she will be joining Grammy Award-winning superstar Alicia Keys on her 'Keys To The Summer North American tour in July.
