Milwaukee-based artist Johnny Franchino has shared a new project, titled A E S T H E T I X. Born and raised in Racine, Wisconsin, Franchino has carved his own lane across a series of eclectic releases and become known for the fusion of electronica subgenera and hip-hop he dubs “New Cologne”. Influenced by 90’s house and hip-hop, Franchino’s vibrant blend of sounds refuses to be boxed in, as made evident with his latest offering A E S T H E T I X, which contains four hyper charged, genre-bending joints, made in collaboration with a talented team of producers, including Mystik Music, S.D. Produces, DaniLOVE Ramone, Lasersmith, and Techon.
A E S T H E T I X kicks off with “Naughty America”, which takes on a raucous g-house feel with its throbbing bass, lively percussion, and sweltering synths. The catchy, expansive cut contains a hedonistic energy that is simply infectious- capped off by Franchino’s confident vocal performance. “Over the Bridge” slows down the pace while still keeping a vital sound, with rising synths and rich bass underscoring Franchino’s laid-back yet commanding flows. “Rendezvous” closes out the EP with a garage-influenced, atmospheric offering that includes airy R&B melodies to add dynamics to the project and close it out on a vibrant note.
A E S T H E T I X makes for a diverse, colorful listen, combining influences from various 90’s electronic subgenres and hip-hop for an eclectic, adrenaline-fuelled release.
