Echosmith's latest single "Sour" comes alongside the announcement of their forthcoming self-titled studio album, set for release in July. Led by frontwoman Sydney Sierota’s soaring, beautiful vocals and complemented by the synth-wave production crafted by Noah Sierota, the band's newest single “Sour” captures the essence of frustration and anxiety that stems from the challenges of a long-distance relationship.

Taking inspiration from Sydney’s personal experiences, this new track reflects her unwavering commitment to putting her relationship first, taking full ownership through Noah’s synth-wave production that forms the perfect backdrop for Sydney’s heartfelt vocals, creating an ethereal atmosphere that draws listeners into the emotional journey throughout the song.

The lush soundscape is further emphasized through melodies and intricate layers, amplifying the raw emotions conveyed by the lyrics. The standout line, “You’re taking a plane and you’re taking my heart,” reflects Sydney’s own experience as her husband pursued his dreams as a pilot while she resided in California; adding to the bittersweet nature of the track, which resonates deeply.

As Echosmith embarks on this new chapter, their commitment to authenticity continues to shine through in this new song, as their forthcoming album is set to deliver more self-penned compositions. The band proves their artistic growth and readiness to explore new creative avenues, with “Sour” serving as a powerful testament to the band’s ability to craft emotionally charged music that connects with audiences on a profound level.
