Star2 just released his new video for "Gangstas" featuring $tupid Young and Lil Poppa and from his latest EP Different Breed. Thai refugee and survivor of poverty, violence, and crime, this young rapper has overcome overwhelming challenges to get to where he is today.
"Gangstas" is a profile on Star 2, Lil Poppa, and $tupid Young's troubled rise to fame amidst temptation, crime, and violence that surely left its mark on the art they produce today. The music video offers up vignettes of the three rappers facing their demons and begging for forgiveness in a dark, abandoned church lit by a neon cross. Directed by Chico Bennett, the visuals capture Star2 at a confession booth, Lil Poppa in a distorted childhood bedroom, and $tupid Young sitting at a gothic organ underneath a stained glass window. $tupid Young raps, "Life is like a game of chess / you better watch how you move." Star2 captains "Gangstas" with earth-shaking confidence and a dark charisma that casts shadows against the foreboding saga at play.
San Diego based rapper Star2 continues to stand out as a fresh new artist to watch. Working alongside producer Chico Bennett, Star2's known for his collaborations with Soulja Boy, $tupid Young, Mozzy, MBNel, Luh Kel, Lil Poppa, HoodTrophy Bino, YSN Flow, and MarMar Oso.
