Los Angeles husband and wife duo The Know have just released the focus track off of their newly released second EP. Called "You", the song is a dream pop single that is ambiguous.
"You" was written in a time when lead singer Jennifer was loosing her mind both literally and figuratively. The song further discusses when someone really misses people, some who are there and some who are not in one's life. Lyrics include, "what else can I do / when I miss you / everywhere I turn / there is no one / cause I'm crying in the room / over you." Musically, "You" highlights cinematic and layered landscapes with a bright guitar riff and echoing soft vocals. Shoegaze, dream pop and indie rock sonics all blend together for a decadent fusion and a must listen.
The Know began in 2018 when the couple composed of songwriter producer/engineer/songwriter Daniel Knowles and singer/songwriter Jennifer Farmer decided to stay home for the holidays to make music together. Their debut EP garnered critical acclaim with media comparing the music to David Lynch’s Twin Peaks and Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound. Their second EP is called EP2 features five enthralling tracks with themes including loss, love, connection, isolation and more. The band also has released a limited edition vinyl that can be purchased here.
