Trust The Mask explore "Otaku" [Video]

Italian experimental electronic duo Trust the Mask has once again captivated listeners with their latest single, "Otaku."

The dynamic synth-heavy track, co-written with electronic producer Matteo Vallicelli, features glitch-infused futuristic cyber-pop soundscapes laced with industrial sounds and ethereal vocals from Vittoria Cavedon. The piercing middle eastern-esque pipe adds an ancient yet futuristic essence, making for an intriguing listen.

Accompanied by a mesmerising visual featuring both artists donning their signature headwear, the video showcases a battle between light and shadow, good and evil, and self-reflection, with metaphoric symbolism and beautiful symmetry. Trust the Mask's music and imagery work in tandem, cultivating a depth of connection and understanding between the audience and the artist.

Elisa Dal Bianco's background in classical studies at the Conservatory of Vicenza and Vittoria Cavedon's self-taught singing skills have resulted in an experimental and layered sound. With "Otaku," the duo continues to explore empathy through their music, delving into the Japanese Otaku phenomenon. Trust the Mask's upcoming debut album, Idiom, promises to be a masterpiece, layered with experimentation and concise, creative chaos, encapsulating the allure of the alien and the avant-garde in perfect precision. "Otaku" is another delectable taste and tease of what's to come from the album, following their debut "Solstice Ritual" in 2021, "Cloudy Again" and "Opaque" in 2022, and the bracing "Crisis" later in the same year.

The duo has already made their mark on the music scene, winning the 1st prize for best band at the Hybrid Music contest of the Municipality of Venice in 2021, and securing a residency with the Bronson Recordings label, thanks to which they produced and recorded Idiom. Trust the Mask also represented Veneto and performed at the Reset festival at the Off Topic in Turin, selected by the Piedmont Global Sound Network. "Otaku" is out now, and it is highly recommended for electronic music enthusiasts looking for a unique and experimental sound.
