Australian pop artist Nicole Millar – who was first covered almost 10 years ago for the first time on EARMILK – has released her latest EP, "daydreamin", and it's a dreamy, atmospheric journey through personal growth and introspection. Millar's pop style is on full display, with infectious beats and intricate production that's sure to captivate listeners through the EP's six-song journey.

Nicole Millar · daydreamin

The EP is a collection of six songs that were written during both lockdown and post-lockdown periods, giving each song a unique perspective and mood during a specific moment in time. The opening two tracks, "Feeling Good Feeling Great", and "nice" were written in Millar's living room – in Australia – during quarantine, while "hugs" and "je te veux près de moi" were inspired by travels through Europe.

With the help of collaborators like Kilter and Amanda Alexander, Millar brings each track to life with underlying layered pop production and polished soundscapes as part of her larger atmospheric guidance. Lyrically, though, "daydreamin" explores the themes of finding calm and happiness together in a chaotic world, with a further standout track "rich" delving into the idea of wealth as a means to help others rather than for personal gain in life.

Another standout of Millar's EP is the intricate and layered production that gives each track a rich and immersive sound individually. It would be an understatement to say that Millar's pop style simply shines through, as she is able to showcase a diverse range of infectious beats and catchy hooks that make each track memorable and addictive on their own.

The instrumentals on the EP are a mix of electronic and acoustic sounds curated by Millar and her team during the production process, with dreamy synths playing prominently, with pulsing basslines and shimmering guitar riffs following with a lush and intricate sonic landscape. Millar's vocals are equally captivating as the instrumentals, with her smooth and expressive delivery bringing each song to life with emotion and nuance.

Throughout the EP, you're going to find Millar at her best: where songwriting is introspective and thoughtful, allowing her to explore themes of personal growth, happiness, and finding calm in a chaotic world. The production perfectly complements the lyrics, creating an immersive and dreamy atmosphere that draws listeners in and keeps them engaged.

Collaborators like Kilter and Amanda further bring their own unique style and expertise to the EP, adding layers of complexity and polish to each track. The result is a stunning body of work that showcases Millar's skills as a pop artist, songwriter, and producer and solidifies her place as one of the most exciting voices in Australian pop music today.

"daydreamin" is a stunning body of work that showcases Millar's skills as a pop artist and songwriter. With its infectious beats and introspective lyrics, it's a journey through personal growth and reflection that's sure to resonate with listeners in some bright fashion.
