Dead Chic are the sound of blues-infused Rock 'n' Roll on "The Venus Ballroom"

Dead Chic's new album The Venus Ballroom is a captivating album that successfully captures the energy and intensity of the group on stage. With a Tarantino-inspired, spaghetti-western-leaning indie-rock sound, the album features rich 60s drum grooves, soulful guitar melodies, tinkling Rhodes keys, and brass sections, all complemented by bluesy and raspy vocals. It's an album that was a labour of love for the French outfit, as they explain – "It was an intense four-day live session. "The Venus Ballroom" lays the foundations of our aesthetics; 5 pieces and an instrumental with which we want to put the listener's imagination to work, take them into the landscapes, powerful and cinematic. With a very personal writing style, strong postures in the choice of sounds and arrangements we want to create our own sound identity, a kind of dark rock mixture, elegant but also perfectly wild and unbridled at times" – Dead Chic

Recorded at the Black Box Studio, an all-analog studio that perfectly suited the sound aesthetics of Dead Chic, the album is a refreshing departure from the quantized loops and rigid drum samples that dominate today's music scene. There are emphatic, western style anthems such as the lead single "You Got It" and moody, blues-rich tracks such "Good God" and "El Malacon".  The album's five tracks and instrumental piece lay the foundation of the band's aesthetics, creating a cinematic and powerful soundscape that invites the listener to explore landscapes through their imagination.

The Venus Ballroom, showcases Dead Chic's strong writing style, as well as their commitment to creating their own sound identity. With elegant yet wild and unbridled arrangements, the album is a must-listen for fans of blues-driven rock, dark indie rock, and fans of The Black Keys or The Last Shadow Puppets.
