Shannon Chapman makes "The First Move"

Toronto-based singer-songwriter, instrumentalist, and producer Shannon Chapman is a woman who wears many hats and is fully hands-on with her music. Since her debut Ebb & Flow, EP in 2020, she hasn't looked back and now is preparing to release her sophomore EP titled Playing Games. In the interim, she starts off the year with her new single "The First Move", a chilled bouncy self-produced record that merges future soul/pop with a contemporary sound that is distinct. Shannon embodies a bold spirit and a candid demeanour as she sings "I am making the first move, setting the scene, betting on myself, taking the lead".  Her production is quite brilliant as well and being grounded musically goes a long way as she takes warm pads, and lush strings with a smooth drum groove to match. The horn solos also play off the chorus and add that extra boldness to the record.
