Cal in Red tests traditional masculinity in "Corvette" [Video]

Michigan based brother duo Cal in Red have just shared their latest indie pop single and visuals. Called "Corvette”, the sonically 80's inspired track is the latest single off of their newly released sophomore EP On The Dance Floor.

With "Corvette" Cal in Red gives an ode to their grandfather who owned a much loved 1975 Stingray Corvette. The single discusses the ideals of traditional masculinity, especially in elders and how emotions are often stifled by men due to societal pressure. Lyrics including, "take it all as you can / reconcile be a man / take it all on the chin / break it in," show this narrative of suppressed feelings and how it can lead to problems. Sonically, "Corvette" is an upbeat affair complete with Beach Boyesque layered melodies and retro leaning guitar riffs. Cal in Red creates a fresh and seductive sound that is inspired by nostalgic touches of indie rock, pop and electronic. The accompanying visuals show the brother's own grandfather working on the famed corvette while the band performs for a fun-loving family affair.

Cal in Red is brothers and songwriting partners Connor and Kendall Wright. The duo shared their musical debut in 2019 with their single "Dang". Since then, the brothers have signed to B3SCI Records and have attracted fans across the globe with their infectious blend of indie rock and alt pop. Their new EP On The Dance Floor discusses important themes including anxiety, aspirations, friendship and more. Take a listen to "Corvette" now and catch the band on tour.
