Los Angeles based alt pop singer/songwriter Michael Dean has just unleashed his latest emotive single and music video. Called "Rollercoaster”, the single marks a sonic departure for the artist following his hip hop EP Almost Famous.
"Rollercoaster" is all about capturing those special moments in life as they can be fleeting. Living in the moment can be challenging and with "Rollercoaster," Michael Dean discusses how important it is to weather difficult times. Lyrics including, "Emotionally I'm exhausting / I refuse to fall again / all these ups and downs / right or wrong / I don't want to be on this rollercoaster," demonstrate the ups and downs in life and how when hard times hit, it can be arduous to hold your head high and continue life's journey.
Sonically, "Rollercoaster" parallels the deeply emotional theme of the song with slow burned soundscapes highlighting moody piano chords, downtempo beats and passionate soul-laced vocals singing cathartic melodies. In the accompanying cinematic visuals, Michael Dean is seen on a date night at the Santa Monica pier with his love interest, demonstrating those happy and memorable times in life.
Michael Dean was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and raised in Orange County, California. Attracted to a wide variety of genres and sounds, Michael Dean crafts unique sonic offerings with his own musical releases. "Rollercoaster" is off of his upcoming new album Top Gun set for release later this year via Boss Republic Records.
