Multiple award-winning French soul singer-songwriter Ben L'Oncle Soul is currently working on his sixth album IS IT YOU? set for release on February 17 via his own independent label Enchanté in collaboration with Believe. Along with the album announcement, Ben L’Oncle Soul has also unveiled the lush new track "A Rose" to serve as the official lead single for his highly anticipated album. The track was composed by Ben L’Oncle Soul and produced by long-time collaborator Alex Finkin (Aloe Blacc, Les Coquettes) who sees the singer in his element as he delivers a beautiful and soulful offering that stirs the soul. Inspired by the classic hundred-year-old poem ‘The Rose Family’ by Robert Frost, Ben gives a whole new meaning to true love with his soothing vocal runs and ear-gripping melodies layered over Finkin’s lush guitar riffs and warm string arrangements which form the perfect soundscape for Ben to tell his life-affirming story of the beauty that is ready to bloom in each of us, and further tease the arrival of his ‘Is It You?’ album.
The accompanying video is a potpourri of clips and images tied under the theme of love, roses and life through nostalgic views. The use of analog visual effects, performance shots of the artist and different short clips threaded together in a semi-home video style is quite effective and adds that warm and colourful feel to it.
With five acclaimed albums under his belt and over 200 million streams, the French soul star is certified multi-platinum in his home country France, where he has also won a Globes de Cristal award for ‘Best Male Singer’ and a Victoires de la Musique award – the equivalent of the Grammy Awards in France – for ‘Live Breakthrough’. Internationally, Ben L’Oncle Soul has also achieved chart success in Belgium, Germany, Netherlands, and Switzerland, among other countries, while also touring all over the world, including Montreal’s International Jazz Festival and the North Sea Jazz Festival, to mention a few.
