From the Bay to the Nile! The pairing of Casual x DEAD PERRY has returned with a heavy mix of entertainment and education. The song in question is titled "White Crown" and it's a visceral and cerebral hitting cut underpinned by thought-provoking lyrics and deft turntable cuts courtesy of DJ Eclipse. In the same vein as Ras Kass’s legendary “Nature Of The Threat”, Bolstered by the ominous and cinematic soundscape made by DEAD PERRY, Casual drops a masterclass of historical references to the cradle of civilization, both literally and metaphorically. As he states “the White crown represented Upper Egypt and the Red crown represented lower Egypt, both who were in constant struggle. I brought the symbology into hip-hop terms.”
The visuals continue the theme with fast-cut scenes of Egyptian artifacts and performance shots of Casual as he casually drops historical gems for listeners to ponder on.
This new single follows the potent chemistry the duo demonstrated last year with the release of The Art Of Reanimation LP. Released in CD/CS and Digital via Below System Records (Trizz, Estee Nack/Superior) and vinyl via Tuff Kong the project featured a plethora of top-notch spitters including Ghostface Killah, Killah Priest, Rockness Monsta, Phesto, Planet Asia, Tristate, ETO, Daniel Son, Celph Titled, Crimeapple and DJ TMB.
