Bonded Jacky is a queer, Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter who began releasing her authentic indie pop confessions in 2022. Her latest single "Stacy's Mom" is the first of the year from this prolific writer with the track following a handful of single releases shared last year.
With "Stacy's Mom", Bonded Jacky has put her own unique sonic spin to the all-time favorite banger. The single is given a queer lens with Bonded Jacky herself singing about her infatuation with her girlfriend's mom. With lyrics including, "Stacy's mom has got it goin' on / She's all I want / And I've waited for so long / Stacy, can't you see? / You're just not the girl for me/ I know it might be wrong but / I'm in love with Stacy's mom," Bonded Jacky is pleading to her lover to understand that she doesn't fancy her but instead her lover's mom. Sonically, the old favorite track is given a modern lofi indie pop sound complete with slow burned dreamy soundscapes, emotionally warm vocals and lush acoustic guitars. Bonded Jacky has managed to pour raw emotion into this early 2000s pop-rock hit for a captivating listen.
Bonded Jacky is the musical project of Maddie Ballard. The artist took her musical name from a nautical term meaning sweet cake or tobacco, which she found hilarious.
