Riverside California-based rapper FrankieOG is not green to us and as an independent artist, he has slowly built an enviable catalogue on his own terms. Although he has more than a handful of collaborations with his longtime collaborator NugLife, the rapper now teamed up with producer TJ MURPHY for this new release titled "Early Morning Cruises."
The jazz-soul-hip-hop fusion is made up of sombre strings, melancholic sax passes and dreamy textures punctuated by FrankieOG's reflective lyrics such as "Go and break the cycle, just believe homie and it could happen/Really I was sleeping on myself but you can't understand it/roll a spliff and light it up, yo I ain't stressed and y'all can have it."
Here, he runs through his own shortcomings but with the right mental state, he shows us that he is on the path to success and self-healing.
"Early Morning Cruises" is the first collaboration between FrankieOG and TJ MURPHY and it seems they have something planned for us in the nearest future.
