Hailing from the famous musical landmark of Liverpool is Faye Donna Francis, with her latest single “This House No Home” which is a strikingly confident and intimately personal statement. Taken from her debut EP 19-23, which is set for release in March 2023, “This House No Home” comes following the loneliness and creative despair on the Covid-19 lockdowns.
Throughout the new single, smoky-jazz club vocals spring to mind reminding you of the early Amy Winehouse sounds of Frank. With reverb and multi-layered vocals and harmonics, Francis is backed by a restrained, percussive rhythm that sets a brooding, prowling pace.
Francis sings from and for a young generation, and her message is that self worth is a “necessity not a nuisance”, espousing the benefits of vulnerability and of ensuring one’s own personal needs. Her approach to music is to embrace freedom and a fun-loving nature in her creativity, as she explains in the press release provided that “Perfectionism is the voice of the oppressor and the enemy of the people”
The new single showcases a songwriter with soul, freedom and passion for her project. 2023, could be a landmark year for the talented artist.
