Singer/songwriter, producer and engineer Shiloh Eyes has just shared her latest captivating single. Called "Mad River", the track is the first of the year following her debut musical release "Me Time" shared in 2021.
With "Mad River," Shiloh Eyes took inspiration from the dissolution of her marriage and the trauma and ultimate healing that followed. A relationship that ended up being ultimately turbulent, Shiloh Eyes wrote "Mad River" about the yearning for what used to be in her relationship.
Lyrics including, "waiting for you / I’m all in / I don’t wanna wait / but I keep waiting /I don’t know what I need / now that it’s no longer you," show that her former partner changed for the worse and Shiloh Eyes is having troubles letting go of the past idealized version of the relationship.
The song also touches upon the themes of ultimate understanding and realization that one needs to move on and move towards a future rather than always looking at the past. Sonically, "Mad River" shines with a hypnotic electronic beat, echoing vocals and soaring melodies. The riveting blend of electronic and bedroom pop create an introspective and emotive narrative of moving towards healing.
Shiloh Eyes is Los Angeles born and bred artist Christine Schatz. Growing up attracted to an array of musical genres including Jazz, punk, hip hip, rock and soul, her own music can be described as genre-less. "Mad River" is off of her upcoming debut EP that touches on themes such as overcoming trauma and sadness. Take a listen to "Mad River" now and add it to your favorite winter playlist.
