Husband and wife duo The Know have returned with a new single and video from their upcoming sophomore EP. Entitled "Used to Be", the track is the first release in over two years from the Los Angeles-based shoegaze rock band.
With "Used to Be", The Know have crafted a reverb-heavy dream pop single all about the highs and lows and complex nature of relationships. Lyrics including, " At the seven eleven / you had to mention my old ways / we could have had today / but you want it to be yesterday", show the danger of holding on too tightly to nostalgia. People change and relationships altar and The Know so brilliantly relay this in their new single.
Musically, "Used to Be" features fuzzed out atmospheric guitars, dreamy trance-filled warm vocals, and ethereal soundscapes for a captivating listen. The music video, directed by singer Jennifer Farmer, tells the story of a romantic relationship through the years, the good times as well as the bad in a non-linear narrative.
The Know is husband and wife team Daniel Knowles and Jennifer Farmer. The duo began creating music in 2018 and their debut 2020 EP wearetheknow garnered critical acclaim. "Used to Be" is off of their upcoming EP called EP 2 which was created during the pandemic and recorded mostly in their home studio.
