Rising Berlin-based R&B singer and producer Evîn has found a way to blend contemporary soul and her Kurdish roots with a handful of different genres. Her debut release was the self-titled EP earlier this year, but before then she started producing her own songs in her home studio in 2020. Using all she has learnt and her experiences growing up in between different cultures, she puts her life into her art which serves as the perfect outlet for healing and much more.

The song in question, "Yarê", is a profound exploration of self-discovery, awareness and being at peace with what is going on around her. Bolstered by an offbeat and somewhat brooding soundscape made up of soft keys, spaced-out pads and sparse percussions, Evîn's mellow and airy vocals take precedence and engulf the backdrop almost like an additional instrument. The way she changes her cadence and subtle inflections as the backdrop transitions is quite unique and leaves listeners hooked as the song keeps switching up as it moves along.

The song is accompanied by a cinematic visual directed by Evîn and Karl Kindermann and shot in the beautiful city of Istanbul. Using engaging cinematography and fast-cut scenes bolstered by the creative direction of Esma Patt, viewers are taken into the busy streets, rooftops and exotic spots in the city. This is also supplemented by drone shots and performance shots of the singer as she lies in her second home, basking in the serenity of the atmosphere.

"Yarê" is taken from her sophomore self-produced EP entitled It wasn't even for you, a project that infuses traditional middle eastern acoustic instruments with western contemporary R&B sounds.
