Italian four-piece Eugenia Post Meridiem unveil sophomore album 'like i need tension'

Featuring the three scintillating singles "Willpower", "around my neck" and "whisper", Italian outfit Eugenia Post Meridiem have just released their second album like i need tension with focus track "crucial spring".

With experimental, electronic, pop and rock themes meandering throughout the album, "crucial spring" in signature Eugenia Post Meridiem style has soft double-tracked vocals and atonal tendencies that resolve smoothly and effortlessly. Atmospheric and slowly swelling from distorted soundscapes to clean-cut guitar riffs, you truly never know what's coming next. A dose of euphoria brings the track to a close, setting up the listener for the ethereal finale "maze of gazes".

The track manages to have contradictory and complementary messaging embedded into it, with the track effectively split into two compact and coherent parts. The band elaborate:

"The whole song is built on the contrast of atmospheres and meanings they create, opposing and complementing each other. The first half is night, that rest and shelter, that sickness, that concealment, that closure, that great winter someone has longed for, like a great need and secret, a great promise made in her/his childhood. This darkness rests in a cocoon, but soon blows up right in the middle of the song, when a wide open door turns everything upside down."

Created over two years with a two week post-lockdown writing and recording stint, it was then that like i need a tension truly came to life in a small barn conversion in Italy. The band share:

“It was a totally collaborative process… All the composing was done together, right there in the room.”

The band's infectious chemistry and air-tight collaboration is truly impressive, and they are rapidly proving themselves as a powerhouse of musical artistry.
