Since the release of their tropical-indie LP Why You Lacking Energy?, UK trio Cassia have been touring their hearts out. Travelling across the UK and around Europe, the troublesome trio return home with a collaboration from one of their favourite support acts Tayo Sound. The dreamy release "Confidence" is a long-awaited pairing of two incredible acts.
Swapping their touring shoes for some stay-at-home slippers, "Confidence" sees the lounging begin, if only for a moment. A reminder of their casual, laidback indie flows, the track delves into the steady rumbles of woozy bliss. With melt-in-your-mouth vocals from Rob and Tayo, their sepia-soaked vocal tones glide mellifluously over the stoner-indie guitar lines that are lazily feelgood.
"When we came together we really wanted to write a song that we could all identify with and that we could have some fun with," Cassia comment. "This track is about building others up through bouts of insecurities and low self-esteem; or on the flip side, having someone to lean on when you’re going through it yourself. We’re all a little more on the introverted side, so wanted to delve into the bizarre and cyclical thoughts that run through your mind."
To put it simply, this track is like chocolate and caramel or hummus and pitta. When two standalone brilliant things come together to create a mouthwatering combination, it's an outburst of something truly phenomenal. "Confidence" is the outcome of two incredible entities collaborating to create something mutually beneficial. Yet the benefit us listeners get from this heavenly partnership far outweighs the indulgence.
