Montreal act Chiara Savasta unveils her dream-like debut EP 'SummerHood Pt.1'

Montreal’s burgeoning pop singer-songwriter Chiara Savasta celebrates the release of her dream-like debut EP entitled SummerHood, Pt. 1, via local imprint Société Holographique de Montréal.  As the young talent’s first fully realized full body of work, the coming-of-age EP is inspired by Chiara’s teenage years, everlasting love, heartbreaks and cinematic scenarios that shape her character and artistry as she ascends into young adulthood.

Musically, the EP transports listeners to a unique juxtaposition between bedroom pop and electronic music. SummerHood, Pt. 1 features front-to-back production from rising Montreal local producer nimbustwokay; the coupling of artists come respectively from polar opposites of the genre spectrum, with Chiara’s poetic lyrics inspired by Phoebe Bridgers, Clairo and The Strokes, while and nimbustwokay produces instrumentals influenced by his favorite bands when he was growing up like Radiohead, Pavement and the Smashing Pumpkins. 

Writing the EP, Chiara Savasta envisioned herself during the summer where her first love and heartbreak happened and when innocence turned to dust.  Weaving a narrative across the EP’s six tracks, her storytelling is exacted with the intention of crafting the soundtrack of a coming-of-age movie.

Chiara Savasta began singing and writing over instrumentals at the age of sixteen and made her start by covering the works of Frank Ocean, The Strokes and Steve Lacy. Eventually, she wrote her first solo-project at the age of eighteen, and from there she released a track called “When Girls Love” which got  the attention of her present day label Société Holographique de Montréal.  

With a rosy trajectory, defined by her signature dreamy bedroom-pop sonics and compelling songwriting, Chiara Savasta’s fusion of alternative, pop and baroque-pop truly crafts a lane of its own through the release of her debut EP SummerHood, Pt.1. With new music already on the horizon for 2023, this EP only sets the stage for what’s ahead in the new year.
