Saskatoon, Canada-based rapper Ev Thompson is one of the forbearers of the rap scene on the Canadian prairies and with over 100 projects and collaborations behind him, he has become a staple in the Canadian underground scene. His latest record "Freedom27" is a no holds barred lyric-dense jam featuring fellow artist Speak.
Over a flute-driven trap backdrop, Speak starts off with an insightful melody-laced chorus that details the short time we all have on Earth and the need to stay on the grind before his number is called. Thompson follows suit on the verses with his distinct slow flow and laidback cadence filled with bravado and retrospective lyrics. The emcee doesn't shy from giving his true thoughts on his journey thus far with lines like "Took a shot in the dark and made some sparks/Used to kick raps, spray paint in the park."
Ev Thompson maintains an active schedule; he has played festivals such as Northern Touch Music Festival in Winnipeg, the Parks Festival in Kelowna, Electric Love in Chilliwack, BC, and he has showcased at Canadian Music Week multiple times.
