Emerging UK rapper and producer Yorke first caught our ears with his debut EP Peur Eternus, which came out early last year, and now he returns with a new single "Mirrors". The self-produced record is a brooding and moody track that is made up of woozy synths, muffled textures and hushed head-nodding drum grooves to boot. Yorke sounds comfortable, and employs a laidback and almost nonchalant cadence to deliver a stream-of-consciousness piece. His verse is quite short and in my opinion, feels like an 8-bar hook. However, the way he seamlessly flows into the refrain where he states "Take a look inside the mirror, it won't hurt you" is brilliant and adds a different vibe to it all. The arrangement is definitely not the norm and strays from the standard verse and chorus template.
"Mirrors" is the first of 3 singles in the lead-up to his second tape coming this year.
