French outfit Polycool deliver sounds reminiscent of LA Priest, Unkown Mortal Orchestra and Tame Impala on their new single "Unlike You". Self-defined as an 'independent and absurd' project, the band deliver intertwining, smooth grooves and brash synths below dusky vocals that hold a strong dose of funk.
The suitably lo-fi video (which even features some rhythmic snapping of scissors) sums up the Parisian musicians' delivery, with muted, grainy colours seeping into a retro-laced visual. Quirky and, of course, absurd, psychedelic and synth-pop lovers are in for a treat
The band are known for shifting projects- from making their own analog synths and pedals to building their own studio. Creation is at the heart of Polycool and a warming energy radiates from all of their projects. They state that all of their projects are 'serious, but without taking themselves too seriously', something that we can all learn from.
