Abby Nissenbaum is a rising artist from Nashville who creates emotionally written music. Discussing topics such as mental health and LGBTQ+ issues, she aims to create music that her audience can find solace in. Musically, her sound can be compared to Phoebe Bridgers, Snail Mail, Soccer Mommy and tinged slightly with a bit of Nick Cave – an interesting mix that creates an infectious sound.
Her latest single “Funeral Processional” showcases her unique sound in abundance. Minimal percussion cuts through the mix, layering nicely between an emotive piano line, whilst horn instrumentation can be found in between. These instruments blend into each other, all soaked in warm and atmospheric reverbs that swirl around the track. On top is her vocals, passionate and raw but softly penned, showcasing her voice’s dynamic ability.
Talking about the meaning behind the single, Abby explains: “While the genesis of Funeral Processional is in the ongoing Covid crisis, the lyrics may be more broadly interpreted as commentary on political and social issues."
Produced by Riley Geare (Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Caroline Rose, La Luz) and mastered by Matt Qualls (Liz Brasher, Speck Joliet, Blvck Hippie) “Funeral Procession” is an emotionally-penned gem.The new single serves to further showcase Abby’s impeccable feel for feelings and abilities as both an instrumentalist and a vocalist. With so much talent on display, we can’t wait to see where she’ll take it.
