UK rising talent Ethan James delivers a bold mix of alternative and R&B on debut four-track EP Water Signs, carried by his strong yet melodic vocals. Showcasing his ability to blur boundaries of genre with groovy infusions of neo-soul and funk nuances, James weaves through a range of emotions laid across a versatility soundscape.

Opening with the sultry stylings of “Babyfever,” in which James smooth timbre plays off the husky touches of featured vocalist Martha AB,  before moving into the luscious “Since Day,” where James rap verses offset angelic vocals from Layla, the short but sweet collection of tracks is packed with laid-back yet emotive vibes.

Both “Smoke & Mirrors,” and “All Things Go,”  gives James a chance to fully shine in very diverse ways, the former showcasing his gentle vocals before the latter reveals his range with strong, bold rap sensibilities.

Influenced by the likes of Tyler The Creator and Giveon, this emerging act continues to build an artistry around digging into his personal experiences and feelings in a way that pulls us in and comforts us.
