Brooklyn-born singer, songwriter, producer & engineer Johnny Burgos is a man of many talents, and his love for blending multiple genres into his repertoires has not gone unnoticed. His latest release "This Vibe" is a soulful bop that exudes retro and modern aesthetics. From the funky bass-lines, disco-influenced percussions and smooth R&B-styled drum grooves provided by veteran producer Jeremy Page, Burgos brings a classic feel-good message on wax, imploring us to savour the present and be accept what we are and give up regret. The melodies are the core of this tune and the way he weaves them is brilliant, the airy and layered approaches are superbly executed and listeners can easily get into the mood as the song progresses into an engulfing and highly nostalgic piece reminiscent of Michael Jackson and Quincy Jones' early soulful/ disco records.
"This Vibe" will also be a part of the singer's upcoming sophomore album titled, Tangent Cycles. Johnny and his band the Butter also have a bi-weekly residency on Wednesday nights at The Williamsburg Hotel, where they perform his entire discography.
