Emerging Canadian R&B singer Gud Cyrus, first came up on our radar with his eclectic project Until Next Time which showcased his love for moody and haunting backdrops and smooth melodic stylings. His latest effort titled "LOVE PARADOX" continues in the same vein.
Bolstered by an airy and ethereal backdrop made up of lush arpeggios and somber synths, he pours his true feelings on wax. As an artist, he doesn't shy away from being vulnerable as he dives into what he calls an inescapable fear of not being able to live up to the standard set by his partner. it's quite an emotional outpour as his pained melodic runs cascade through the bass-heavy backdrop laid before him. He also has a way with his writing and while he doesn't get into deep he paints a crystal clear picture for listeners with lines like "Why is it that I can't seem to fall in love/ I need answers but I hear silence from above."
The accompanying visual is a pure dramatization of Gud Cyrus's inner turmoil. From the urgent, fast-paced scenes, blurry visual effects, and use of dark lighting with flashing lights, viewers are taken deep into the artist's world filled with raw emotional pain. The set pieces and recurring motifs also add a nice touch to the overall brooding aesthetic of the visual as well.
