Emerging South Carolina recording artist Young Fresh plays the iconic sitcom nerd to tell an episodic love story in the new visual for his new song “Breaking My Heart.” The track produced by Cybeat makes use of the iconic brass-laden Mint Condition sample pitched down to fit Young Fresh's laidback cadence and unassuming demeanor.
He tells an endearing tale of unrequited love and the hurdles he has to jump in order to get the girl of his dreams. The verses are reflective and heartfelt and he also switches it up with a subtle autotuned melodic hook with lines like " You a college girl, you got big dreams / and every time I think of you it’s being with me / You play a lot of games but we should be together.”
The Family Matters-inspired video's script is written and directed by Young Fresh-himself with a full re-enacted cast. We get to see Young Fresh play a gullible nerdy Urkel who fumbles around the first day of school in the hopes of earning Laura’s love – just like the classic sitcom.
“Breaking My Heart” is accompanied by the star-studded single “I Gotta Crush, Pt. 2” featuring Kirko Bangz (“Drank In My Cup”) and Tiffany Evans (“Promise Ring”), out now, via own imprint. Both tracks are slated to appear on Fresh’s upcoming debut, as-yet-titled, coming late 2022.
