Seasoned Richmond, Virginia-based, jazz-fusing cosmonauts Butcher Brown have returned with "Liquid Light", the lead single from their forthcoming big band venture, Butcher Brown Presents Triple Trey, featuring Tennishu and R4nd4zzo Bigb4nd due September 16th via Concord Jazz. The project will be the band's first body of work following their memorable NPR Tiny Desk  concert, performed from a Richmond rooftop. "Triple Trey" was originally intended to be a more hip-hop centric record until it was reimagined into a big band vehicle; emblematic of both their versatility and breadth of influence.

The track opens with splashy drum that lead into a fiery Tennishu performance. His lyrics come in staring forward, looking to the future in this anthem-like, floral delivery. Instrumental gives a splash of citrus to this classic approach as the depth of instruments on display becomes more lush, and more bright as the track progresses. There's just a feel-good positivity that comes from this record. It is a sip of coffee in the morning and something to start a day off right.

There's so much to look forward to in this upcoming project.Having been releasing commercial material since 2014, the band remarked that “Over the years, everything about this band has become more refined and mature — from the playing and producing to recording — but the soul was there from the beginning… We already had the spark.”

Make sure to stay up to date with the collective below and mark your calendar for September 16th.
