Utah-via- Hawaii four-piece The Moss craft infectious indie rock with hints of '60s surf rock and '90s grunge. Their latest unveiling is the explosive single "Insomnia," which follows last year's eight-track album Kentucky Derby.
With "Insomnia," the band details the highly addictive and destructive feeling of love when it is all encompassing. Lyrics including "Lately I am dissatisfied / Paralysed I've tried it all / I can't eat / I can't sleep / and the only thing I can think about is you" describe that intense lustful desire to want to be with someone you love at all times. Musically, "Insomnia" highlights jangly blues-inspired guitar riffs and soaring melodies with an unflinching raw delivery rarely found in today's overproduced indie rock landscape. The Moss have successfully crafted an explosive garage rock sound with a charismatic pop musical undercurrent.
The Moss formed in 2015 on the beaches of Oahu by teenage friends Tyke James (vocals, guitars) and Addison Sharp (guitar) with Willie Fowler on drums and Addison’s brother Brierton on bass soon completing the band. The band takes influence from '60s blues rock artists and modern day indie rock acts including Cage The Elephant and Pinegrove.
