Rising indie pop act Mollie Coddled explores social anxiety on "Guilt Trip"

Rising indie pop act Mollie Coddled delivers playful track “Guilt Trip,”  encapsulating themes of social burnout and toxic friendships from the perspective of a neurodivergent youngster. With an infectious rhythm built on smooth synths and jangly guitars, Mollie’s melodic vocals are the highlight of this funky alt-pop production.

Sonically, the emerging North Yorkshire-hailing weaves an energetic instrumentation which brings to life a hazy, electro-tinged production laden with echoes of her soft yet soulful vocal lines.

Rooted in tongue-in-cheek yet impactful lyricism that encapsulates honest, vulnerable thoughts of anxiety and introversion with youthful charm, Mollie’s songwriting with lines like“Take me on a guilt trip, an offer I can't refuse," beautifully frame the feelings of anyone who feels pressured to be social when all they want to do is find comfort in the confines of their own safe space.

Perfectly balancing touches of anxiety with danceable melodies, the dreamy track is inspired by Mollie’s own struggles with social interaction, as an intimate exploration expands into something incredibly relatable.

Speaking of the inspiration behind the track, co-written and co-produced by Ben Matravers (Easy Life, Abbie Ozard) Mollie explains : "Sometimes people ask me to go to the pub but I just wanna tell them to bog off so I can lay on my bed and eat biscoff spread from the jar, that's what this song's about."

Emotive but vibrant, “Guilt Trip,” captures Mollie’s penchant for bedroom pop and sees her build a connection with listeners through her own experiences as she continues to establish her own, unique space in pop music.
