After recently releasing the Ras Kass and Planet Asia assisted banger, “Chromed Out,” El Gant returns with, “Pageants,” which finds the NY lyricist reunited with his Jamo Gang brethren. Backed by a crunching beat provided by Canadian beatsmith Marco Polo, El Gant, and Ras Kass reflect on their early days of what drove them to become lyricists, and how to this day it’s the passion that fuels them and not the pageantry of the rap game. El Gant leads the charge with his authoritative flow and a vivid description of his journey as an artist who is dedicated to the art of rhyming. He is followed by Ras' off-beat rhyme schemes and subtle verbal darts at the powers that be.
El Gant has performed alongside hip-hop icons Kool Keith and Ice T and has toured with headlining acts such as Jay Z, Eve, Non-Phixion, and The Beatnuts, the latter of which featured Gant on their 2002 released LP, The Originators. He presently has two solo LP’s, starting with his 2001 debut album, It’s Over and Beast Academy (2014) and he is also a member of the hip-hop trio, Jamo Gang alongside the veteran West Coast lyricist Ras Kass, and emcee-producer, J57 of the Brown Bag AllStars.
Currently, El Gant is gearing up for his third solo LP, O.S.L.O., which includes guest features from the likes of Planet Asia, Killah Priest, Bobby J from Rockaway, Innocent?, King Magnetic as well as Ras Kass among others. The LP also boasts production from the likes of the legendary DJ Premier, Marco Polo, J57, and more.
“Pageants” is available now through all major DSPs and is taken from El Gant's forthcoming LP, O.S.L.O., due out September through Gant’s own Rule By Secrecy imprint.
