Jacob Humber questions higher powers on "Jesus at My Dining Room Table"

Nashville-based songwriter Jacob Humber releases the acoustic-led single "Jesus at My Dining Room Table." Questioning political allegiances and the way in which the world works, Humber's vocals take centre stage as he addresses important themes with lush guitars and signature vocals.

Built with ethereal acoustics and humbling instrumentation, the warming tones gently envelop listeners into a moment of thought-provoking folk. Discussing the state of the world, "Jesus at My Dining Room Table," sees Humber question "do you love black kids or white cops, when will all that bullshit stop, do you vote red or blue or not at all?"

It's the kind of questions that make you question your faith or the existence of some higher power at all, but the soothing hums and stringed instruments create a heavenly backdrop to these conversation starters, gently easing us into the tough subjects without offense.

Speaking of the song's formation, Humber tells us: "Toward the end of my time in college in Waco, TX, I started writing songs with a guy I worked with named Ben. We held similar sentiments on a number of conversational topics – one specifically regarding the character of Jesus from the Bible. He and I were both raised in evangelical christian households, and we both harbored frustration and sadness over who Jesus is hailed to be by "Christians," and who we've experienced this man to be in our own lives. The two versions of Jesus couldn't be further apart – something we would talk about often."

"Jesus at My Dining Room Table," is a hushed folk narrative that sees millennial thoughts spoken aloud. What Humber expresses in these short few minutes, are the questions that we've been unable to put cohesively into words all our lives. Is this a modern day protest song of faith and humanity? Perhaps so.
