South African-born, LA-based indie act Nick Leng shares visuals for vulnerable production “My Mind Is a Mess in the Morning,” taken from forthcoming album Spirals. The intricate track has meditative soundscape exploring new beginnings, with the music video directed by long-time collaborator Drey Singer reflecting the lyrical journey of the track.
As the song writing sees Leng unpack the pressure he puts on himself, the video is given an interpretative touch that allows people to relate their own lives to the visuals coming alive before them.
Speaking of what he’d like fans to take away from the music video, he said: As with most of my videos I’d love for them to take whatever they wish away from video. There’s definitely my own interpretations and meanings behind things but I’d often find that songs and videos evolve with me and their meanings and significance change over time.”
Sonically encapsulating the emotive and enthralling touches he has built as his signature, the track boasts an organic feel, written as it was enveloped in nature, as Leng lived in a trailer in LA’s Topanga Canyon.
Teasing the kaleidoscope of expansive instrumentation yet to come on Spirals, “My Mind Is a Mess in the Morning,” and its video leave us anticipating more.
