Lauran Hibberd packs a powerful punch on her new single "I'm Insecure," taken from her upcoming album Garageband Superstar. The Virgin signee teams up with producer Larry Hibbitt, brings tantalising guitar crunches and tongue-in-cheek lyrics that still hit close to home.
Hibberd's lyrics ooze rhythm with her vocal delivery nodding subtly to a West-Coast sound as she explores her own insecurities and gaslighting culture. "You know when you are so insecure but also sure enough of yourself to attempt to rap -yeah, me neither," Hibberd remarks.
A track about being stuck in your own head, "I'm Insecure," sees Hibberd break out of her creative confines, moving past feeling like "being a very small pawn on the very big chess board that is the music industry."
She further shares: “This song was such a turning point for me writing wise, it solidified the album for me early on. I think this is the most honest I’ve ever been about it in a track. Saying that, writing it has helped me jump right out of the fish bowl, now I feel more confident and am having more fun than ever."
Lauran's summer is set to be a big one with enviable slots on UK festival lineups. With a 2021 sold-out headline tour under her belt also, there's no denying that Lauran is shaking up the music scene.
