Los Angeles based space pop artist Polartropica has just unveiled her latest single and accompanying NFT. The "TERMINATOR x DYNASTY COLLECTION" is a collaboration with photographer and acclaimed artist IZZO.
In "TERMINATOR", Polartropica releases a song that was motivated by her heart-wrenching personal experiences during the Stop AAPI hate and Protect Our Elders movement last year. With lyrics including, "the whole world is on fire / we can keep it strong / nothing can make me forget / who I am ever again," Polartropica feels the racism that has plagued this country but she won't let it stop her from being strong and fighting back to injustice. She confides, "we wrote this song so that fans and listeners could supercharge on courage and hope whenever going through dark, uncertain times." With dark beats, neo-noir cinematic synths and layered confident vocals, "TERMINATOR" is an innovative sonic fusion of rock, pop and electronic. The avant-garde creator releases the track in conjunction with NFTs by IZZO. The collection of moving sequences touch on themes such as power dynamics, pain, pleasure, existence and worthiness.
Polartropica is the musical project of California-based queer, Asian American singer, songwriter and musician Cherise Wu. Building a dedicated fanbase with her dynamic and stylistic live shows as well as synth heavy dream pop releases, Polartropica uses her music and art to bring attention to important issues including queer rights, combating racism and the mental health and opiod crisis in the U.S. "TERMINATOR" follows her recently released garage rock fused single "GIVE THEM HELL (Serial Killer Slayer" shared earlier this year. With more music on the horizon, we can't wait to hear what is next from this innovative creator.
