Brooklyn based singer/songwriter Cannon is a genre-defying artist on the rise. His latest track is the unfiltered and candid new single "College Friends."
In "College Friends," Cannon has crafted an unfiltered early 20s anthem all about the dilemma of balancing social life with pursuing one's own goals and dreams. With lyrics such as "can I be two places at one time / just tryna find myself a day I can spend twice / I wanna stay / I wanna leave / I can't keep up with my college friends," Cannon realizes the importance and value of time and how prioritizing is sometimes life's greatest challenge.
Sonically, "College Friends," impresses with grunge inspired acoustic guitar riffs under a smooth hip-hop dipped verse that soon culminates into an explosive chorus. With elements of bedroom pop, garage rock and lo-fi hip-hop, the track is an immersive and electrifying musical tapestry.
Cannon began making music and recording himself in his dorm room at Boston College. With an affinity for R&B/hip-hop production and warm acoustic guitar sonics, the young songwriter soon crafted his own unique blend of organic and synthetic sounds. Now based in Brooklyn, New York, Cannon shared his debut single "Water Glass," in 2019. Since then, he has released a full-length album and toured with the likes of Gavin DeGraw, and Hunter Hayes.
Take a listen to "College Friends" now and remember you can't be two places at once.
