Veteran Bristol emcee K*Ners has been on the grind for decades now, and he is a staple in the city's underground scene. His latest effort is the visual for his song "This is From Bristol" which pays homage to his hometown. Bolstered by a vocal sample-driven soundscape, K*Ners takes listeners back to the genesis and relives all the various experiences that made him the man he is today. From dark days, personal loss, racism, and riots, he looks back at these events as life-shaping situations, and finds the positive side as he came out unscathed. His delivery is laidback as he takes each line in stride to punctuate the message of growth in real-time, allowing listeners to deeply feel the emotions in his heart.
The visual is shot in black and white, and follows a character who goes to different spots in the city as he tries to find his true self amidst chaos. The visual is also littered with images from K*Ners' past. "This is From Bristol" is lifted from his I AM K*NERS mixtape, which was released on all streaming platforms earlier this year.
K*Ners started out as a ragga MC on a sound system many years ago, and he later switched his style to encompass hip-hop. Inspired by the success of Bristol heroes such as Wild Bunch, Massive Attack, and Portishead, he is creating his own lane with his style of evocative and relatable hip-hop music.
