Brussels musical trio Under the Reefs Orchestra delivers cinematic single "Sakurajima," accompanied by dreamy yet brutal imagery inspired by the divinity of the Sakurajima volcano in Japan.
Brimming with the group’s signature blend of power-rock and smooth jazz, the powerful production harkens back to 2015 when the Sakurajima erupted, with whirring riffs from guitarist Clément Nourry weaving through bass saxophone blasts to encapsulate the intense vibrations and growl of an explosive earthly phenomenon.
With an adventurous lilt infused into an intricate genre-defying melody, Nourry’s expertise is complemented by rumbly sax stylings of Marti Mélia and rhythmic drum beats of Jakob Warmenbol for a hazy and hypnotic sonic journey on "Sakurajima.”
