Musician Ryan Basile offers up hazy indie pop with luscious sides of electronica, folk, punk and rock under the creative identity of Orange Orange – his latest production “Granny Lands,” delivering layers upon layers of gliding synths and dreamy vocals that transport us into an enchanting sonic realm.
Written during the second lockdown in 2020, drawing inspiration from a YouTube documentary to capture old and withering lands as a metaphor for no improvement stemming from greed. Taking a pessimistic dive into themes of climate change and corruption, “Granny Lands,”featuring haunting harmonies from Sydney Miller manages to be a catchy slice of artsy alt-pop while still weaving a hugely important message calling for change.
Having begun as Basile’s side project to explore his passion for electronic production, Orange Orange has evolved into a thoughtful yet creative exploration of the world through genre-spanning instrumentation. Two EPs and an album already behind him, a second album is on the horizon as the promising talent pulls us in with the contemplative yet anthemic styling of this newest track.
