Emerging Nigerian R&B singer/songwriter Noon Dave recently signed to Lagos-based record label Chocolate City and unveils his debut single "Brunch." The track is a mix of dark R&B mixed with moody pop vibes, reminiscent of the sounds of The Weeknd (although he says this was inspired by Saint JHN) in his early days. However, Noon Dave is consistent with his roots and infuses a lot of Afrobeats/Nigerian elements into the mix, especially in the songwriting department. His vocals are commanding and sharp and the blend of Pidgin English mixed with Nigerian parlance makes it quite unique and exotic, for lack of a better term.
"Brunch" for the most part is a love song dipped in sensual vibes as we see the young artist convincing his lover to skip breakfast for a steamy one-on-one session. Noon Dave sure knows his onions and doesn't get too explicit but leaves enough clues for the keen mind to get the full details of the situation.
“Brunch” is the lead single taken from Noon Dave's forthcoming project which promises to bring something exciting and refreshing to the scene. It seems he will be bringing back R&B with a unique retro-futuristic twist but we just have to wait and see what he does.
Noon Dave is an Ogun State-born, Lagos-raised singer who started writing music at a young age. He signed to Chocolate City in 2021 and he is currently preparing to release his debut project.
