2018 was a pivotal year for rapper MC Bravado as he said goodbye to his English teaching job and went on his first national tour, the Vans Warped Tour. The turn of events was bittersweet for the rapper as his roommate died a few days before and he was still trying to process the whole situation. The track "Bye My Lonely (Warped Tour Diary)" taken from his album The Living Game looks at these events from a sepia-toned perspective while dealing with loss, newfound friendships, and being vulnerable all at once. Backed by the somber textures and punchy boom-bap drum grooves provided by his longtime collaborator, Militant Marxman, MC Bravado delivers a solid performance ripe with evocative lyrics, vivid storytelling, and emotions listeners can feel.
The visual is shot/directed by Nick Palmer with additional footage from Drew Servedio and it's presented in documentary-style shots that follow MC Bravado and his crew as they journey across various places in their RV. The nostalgic element is further cemented by the use of old photos of the rapper's friends to produce the effect of memories permeating the present. The visual is dedicated to his late friends Brad Moore and Joe Patterson, and also a nod to the friends we've gained as time progresses.
